About this NVQ course

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-Trade: Repair & Refurbishment is designed to assess occupational competence in the workplace. Learners are required to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and experience in the repair, maintenance and refurbishment of buildings. This qualification is suitable for practising multi-traders, handyman and people working in the repair, refurbishment and maintenance of buildings.

This NVQ provides formal recognition of practising as a multi-trader or handyman. Learners must select two optional units from:

  • Maintenance Carpentry & Joinery
  • Maintenance Painting & Decorating
  • Maintenance Tiling
  • Maintenance Plastering
  • Maintenance Roofing
  • Maintenance Brickwork or Stonemasonry

Q2W offer a nationwide NVQ service, made possible using our on-line NVQ portfolio Learning Assistant. Your NVQ will be assessed using the product of your work e.g. contract documents. Your knowledge will be assessed using professional discussion or written reflective account.

How much will my NVQ level 2 cost?

Price: £750.00 + VAT per delegate

NVQ Payment Terms

50% to begin the NVQ process; followed by 50% upon completion.

NVQ Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this NVQ qualification, however the potential learner must be able to demonstrate that they can meet the skills, knowledge and experience requirements of the NVQ in buidling maintenance, multi-trade, repair and refurbishment before enrolment.

How long will my NVQ take to complete?

An NVQ assessment plan will be agreed during your Initial NVQ assessment& NVQ Induction; a planned end date will be agreed. However, we would expect your NVQ qualification to be complete with sixteen weeks.

How is the NVQ qualification assessed?

Learning Assistant is the on-line NVQ portfolio used by Q2W. During the Initial assessment your assessor will identify the most appropriate optional units and provide advice and guidance regarding the range of evidence required. At this stage you will be introduced to Learning Assistant and uploading evidence for your NVQ. Feedback regarding your progress will be provided in a variety of ways: contact records transmitted using Learning Assistant, which also includes a % complete indicator. Your assessor will also maintain regular contact by phone, text message and email.

Your assessor will provide support throughout the assessment process to ensure timely completion of your NVQ.

Industry recognition & benefits

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-Trade: Repair & Refurbishment qualifies the holder to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) blue skill card (https://www.cscs.uk.com/card-type/supervisory/).

Grants

Q2W are a CITB, Approved Training Organisation (ATO) for NVQs.
What is a CITB ATO?
A CITB ATO is an organisation which provides construction training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry-agreed training standard. As an approved ATO, Q2W will upload your NVQ achievement to trigger an automated NVQ grant payment of £600.00 (subject to eligibility).
How do I claim my grant?

You can claim NVQ achievement grants if you’re an employer who is registered with CITB. This includes small employers (wage bill of less than £80k) who don’t have to pay the levy.

NVQ level 2 in Building Maintenance Multi-Trade: Repair & Refurbishment: Qualification Structure

Learners must complete the four mandatory units, plus one optional unit from Group A and units from two other optional groups.

Mandatory Units:

  1. Confirming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  2. Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
  3. Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
  4. Deliver Reliable Customer Service

Optional Units Group A (select one unit from):

  1. Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
  2. Installing, Maintaining and Removing Work Area Protection and Safety Equipment in the Workplace
  3. Clearing the Site and Handing Over on Completion in the Workplace

Optional Units Group B (select two units from): Maintenance in Carpentry & Joinery

  1. Maintaining Non-structural Carpentry Work in the Workplace
  2. Maintaining Non-structural or Structural Components in the Workplace
  3. Repairing, Replacing and Renewing Gates, Posts and Fencing in the Workplace

Optional Units Group C (select two units from): Maintenance Painting & Decorating

  1. Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller in the Workplace
  2. Hanging Standard Paper Wallcoverings in the Workplace
  3. Preparing Background Surfaces for Plastering, Tiling, Panelling or Painting/Decorating in the Workplace

Optional Units Group D (select two units from): Maintenance Tiling

  1. Preparing Background Surfaces for Plastering, Tiling, Panelling or Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
  2. Tiling Wall and Floor Surfaces in the Workplace
  3. Removing and Renewing Floor Screeds in the Workplace

Optional Units Group E (select two units from): Maintenance Plastering

  1. Preparing Background Surfaces for Plastering, Tiling, Panelling or Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
  2. Applying Finishing Plaster to Prepared Surfaces in the Workplace

Optional Units Group F (select two units from): Maintenance Roofing

  1. Maintaining Slate and Tile Roofing in the Workplace
  2. Repairing Sheeting and Cladding Systems on Roofs and Walls (including Rainscreen) in the Workplace
  3. Repairing Membrane Roofing Systems in the Workplace
  4. Removing and Repairing Eaves and Verge Finishings in the Workplace

Optional Units Group F (select one unit from): Maintenance Brickwork & Stonemasonry

  1. Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures in the Workplace
  2. Repairing Basic Stonemasonry Structures in the Workplace
